The Ohio State University Department of Dermatology is seeking applicants for a non-ACGME-accredited Complex Medical Dermatology fellowship. This one-year position will provide exceptional training in the diagnosis and management of complex outpatient and inpatient dermatologic diseases. Fellows will also receive outstanding research mentorship with the goal of having the fellow present at a local or national conference. This fellowship will provide an excellent foundation to begin a career in academic medicine

The Ohio State University encounters a very wide breath of pathology and complex dermatologic diseases and has numerous faculty who specialize in the care of these patients. The fellowship will be set up on an 80%-20% model. For 80% of the time, fellows will receive exceptional training in complex dermatology and will rotate in wound clinic, rheumatology-dermatology clinic, complex medical dermatology clinic, psoriasis-psoriatic arthritis clinic, clinical trials, and inpatient dermatology. As a part of this time, fellows will also have dedicated time in dermatopathology to review slides from the complex patients as well as protected time for research, teaching, and scholarship.

For 20% of the time, fellows will function as an independent dermatologist where he/she will see general dermatology patients in clinic.

This unique 80% – 20% mix has the unparalleled benefit of providing both mentorship and guidance in treatment of complex dermatologic diseases, while also helping the fellow continue to build and maintain his or her general dermatology skills and confidence as an independent dermatologist. This balance will also allow the fellow earn a higher compensation (~2X higher) than most fellowship positions.

Fellowship eligibility:

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in dermatology
  • Ability to obtain an Ohio Medical License
