Specific goals include the acquisition of expertise in 1) caring for outpatients with complex medical conditions such as autoimmune blistering diseases, rheumatologic/dermatologic diseases, severe eczema, severe psoriasis, cutaneous diseases with systemic manifestations, 2) using systemic immunosuppressants and biologics to treat complex medical dermatologic conditions, 3) the evaluation and management of skin disorders in critically ill hospitalized patients, and 4) the management of hospitalized patients with severe dermatologic diseases

In addition to clinical training, the year provides 50% protected time for career development activities, including finding and developing a niche within medical dermatology. It is expected that the participant will conduct research and complete publications in his/her area of interest.

The ideal participant is someone planning or just beginning a career in academic medical dermatology. Applicants must have completed dermatology residency by the fellowship start date.
